Shark Fishing

In July of 2008 5 of us chartered the boat, The Longway, with Chris Long. I had been on a previous charter with Chris before, and had not been let down on that trip. We went bottom fishing that time and caught a full load. I could tell that Chris didn't want to go to the Gulf Stream that time so he mentioned shark fishing in North Carolina so we all agreed that was fine. The first hour or so we were trolling for croakers and chum, running nets on the bottom of the sea floor. We pulled up shrimp, jellyfish, seaweed...everything that lives on the bottom of the ocean. After we had the make shift live wells full with croaker we headed north to Holden Beach, NC. We pulled up probably 30-40 sharks throughout the day, I caught the first keeper. You are only allowed one big black tip shark, per boat. Since the one I caught was the first biggest one, we kept that one...Dane did catch the biggest one of the day, his was at least 100lbs, while mine was around 90lbs. Enjoy...
